Simple Cricut projects for adding a handmade touch to your tree, gifts, and holiday gatherings.
Pull Up a Chair…
You don't have to turn the dining room into a full-blown craft workshop to add a few handmade touches to the holidays. A Cricut, some pretty cardstock, and an afternoon can go a surprisingly long way.
These three projects are simple enough to keep holiday crafting fun: a metallic star ornament, decorative gift boxes, and festive drink charms. Make one or make all three, depending on how crafty you're feeling.

What You'll Need
If you already have a Cricut, use the machine you have. If you're looking for a compact machine for smaller projects, the Cricut Joy 2 Essentials Bundle is one option.
For these projects, you'll also want:
- Metallic cardstock
- Holiday cardstock
- Double-sided tape
- Charm rings
- Small hole punch set
- Ribbon, twine, or ornament hooks if you're making the stars
You won't need every supply for every project, and you can absolutely work with cardstock and embellishments you already have.
Make a Metallic Star Ornament
A metallic star is an easy way to add a little handmade sparkle to the tree without tackling a complicated project.
Choose a star design in Cricut Design Space and cut it from metallic cardstock. You can keep it simple with a single star or cut a few coordinating sizes and layer them with double-sided tape for more dimension.
Add a small hole near the top and finish it with ribbon, twine, or an ornament hook.
Make one statement ornament or cut several smaller stars to scatter throughout the tree.
💜 Make It a Tree Topper
Want to go bigger? The same idea can become a metallic star tree topper.
If the finished star is larger than your machine's cutting area, create it as multiple sections that can be cut separately and assembled afterward. Layering additional cardstock behind the finished star can also give it more structure.
The exact size and number of pieces will depend on your design and Cricut model, so treat this as the bigger-project variation rather than a specific cut-file tutorial.
Create Decorative Holiday Gift Boxes
Sometimes the wrapping is half the fun. 🎁
Choose a gift-box design in Design Space and cut it from holiday cardstock. Fold along the appropriate lines and secure the box with double-sided tape where needed.
Use different papers to make boxes for small gifts, gift cards, treats, teacher gifts, or little holiday surprises.
You can also personalize them with cardstock initials, tags, snowflakes, stars, or other cut embellishments.
Make Holiday Drink Charms
Holiday drink charms are one of those little details that are both cute and useful when everybody's cups start looking suspiciously alike.
Cut small holiday shapes from coordinating cardstock. Stars, ornaments, snowflakes, mittens, trees, or different initials all work well.
Punch a small hole in each finished shape with a small hole punch, then attach a charm ring. Slip the ring around the stem of each glass so everyone has a different marker for their drink.
For extra durability, you can layer two cardstock pieces together before attaching the ring.
These are easy to coordinate with your holiday colors, and you can tuck them away with your decorations to use again.

Before cutting a whole batch of anything, make one test piece first. Check the finished size, folds, holes, and assembly before committing your favorite cardstock to the whole project. It can save both cardstock and a few choice holiday words. 😂
